👋 Hello everyone,
"Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win."~Sun Tzu, The Art of War
📚 Book Summary:
This week's book is "The Confident Mind" by Dr. Nate Zinsser
You should read this book if you are looking for a book that will teach you how athletes and military cadets prepare to lead when the stakes are high. Learn the mindsets of star athletes, what they are listening to in those headphones, the power of affirmation in the morning, and self-reflecting at night.
One of my favorite take away from the book is this:
"That truth is this: confidence has relatively little to do with what actually happens to you and pretty much everything to do with how you think about what happens to you."
✅ Actionable advice:
In the book, football star Drew Brees said, "I'm a very modest person, but I'm also extremely confident. And if you put me in the situation, I'm going to have some swagger, I'm going to have some cockiness, and there's nothing I think I can't do."
So, if confidence has relatively little to do with the situation you find yourself in—the solution might just be to take that bat from your shoulder and give it a swing. "Do," and confidence might just follow.
