Leaders Read#49

👋 Hello everyone,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! Stephanie and the kids are gearing up to go back to school, and soon, it will be quiet around the home office for me again.

📚 Book Summary:

This week's book is "Outthink the Competition" by Kaihan Krippendorff.

You should read this book if you have a strong competitor in your space and are looking for ways to crush or leave them behind. The book will make you think about flanking moves or creating a whole new category out of nothing.

One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:

"Winners are the ones who understand how to turn battleground shifts into an advantage. Sometimes, that means leading. Sometimes, that means following. Sometimes, that means staying out of the next battleground altogether. Sun Tzu outlined specific guidelines for when it's best to occupy a new battleground early or late. Like good generals, jazz musicians, and skilled comedians, winners know the key is timing."

✅ Actionable advice:

Not being number one or the best in the world at something can give you a wonderful advantage. Opposite to them, you are not looking over your shoulder. Not being the best allows you to grow without the pressure of constant scrutiny. You can strategize, look for opportunities and experiment. You can be patient, embrace the learnings, be flexible, and identify the right time to make your move.
