👋 Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!
I have a couple of busy weeks of travel ahead of me.
Next week, I'm finishing up the Autodesk Leadership Development Program. And then, it is Autodesk University.
Both are in Las Vegas. If you are at AU, I would love to connect!
📚 Book Summary:
This week's book is "The Culture Code" by Daniel Coyle.
You should read this book if you are looking for a book on how to develop a great culture on your team. The book provides great knowledge and suggestions on how to ask good questions and what to do to create a good culture.
One of my favorite take away from the book is this:
"Don't shoot the messenger?" In fact, it's not enough to not shoot them. You have to hug the messenger and let them know how much you need that feedback. That way, you can be sure that they feel safe enough to tell you the truth next time.
✅ Actionable advice:
It is about trust, and no ego isn't. The magic is when your team knows that they can be courageous and have difficult conversations with you and can trust that you are rational and calm.
🧠 5 things I’m thinking about (November 3, 2023)
1.Will present the "Doubt Landscape" to my team.
2.One Slide that shows the team's responsibilities.
3.Having fun with an old friend, "Adobe Premiere Pro"
4.If you're stressed, it is not you, it is your system.
5.When is the right time to say "no, I'm just not doing that."
