Leaders Read#70

👋 Hello everyone,

Jeff Bezos said, "You have to have a willingness to repeatedly fail. If you don't have the willingness to fail, you're going to have to be very careful not to invent."

Here are four resources you might have missed:

📚 Book Summary:

This week's book is "Principles" by Ray Dalio

Ray Dalio is the founder of the investment firm Bridgewater and a billionaire who is considered one of the best investors ever. In this book, he shares the principles that took him from growing up in a middle-class family to sitting at the table with kings and presidents. He shares how he managed his people to raise themselves and his company above the rest.

One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:

"If you don't mind being wrong on the way to being right, you'll learn a lot—and increase your effectiveness. But if you can't tolerate being wrong, you won't grow, you'll make yourself, and everyone around you miserable, and your work environment will be marked by petty backbiting and malevolent barbs rather than by a healthy, honest search for truth."

✅ Actionable advice:

Leaders could learn a few things from scientists. One is that they don’t mind being wrong. Scientists don’t get upset when new evidence displays their mistakes—they get excited. Scientists are the definition of continuous learners. They ask better questions, muse before presenting their latest ideas, and invite everyone to challenge and prove them wrong. Scientists don’t let ego get in the way of new outcomes and cultivate a culture of trust and honesty. Adopting this mindset in a fast-paced business environment is challenging but essential. You, as a leader, can act like a scientist and promote a mindset that values the pursuit of truth, constructive feedback, and drive real change.
