👋 Hello everyone,

Reid Hoffman said, "Starting a company is like throwing yourself off the cliff and assembling an airplane on the way down."

Here are four resources you might have missed:

📚 Book Summary:

This week's book is "How I Built This" by Guy Raz.

Guy Raz, the host of the popular podcast “How I Built This,” brings you a book of the same title. This book distills the key lessons, to-dos, and not-to-dos from his interviews with over 400 entrepreneurs as they built their iconic brands.

One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:

"If you took that leap off the cliff while attempting to build your own airplane on the way down, you deserve to be known. But as the builder of that plane, it's also your job to be the creator of the buzz from that plane's engines. It's your job to make sure that the sound of your doors opening reaches past your front steps and far enough out into the world for potential customers to hear it. It's your job to get attention for the product or the service you are bringing to market. It's usually not easy, and you are going to need help from all forms of media to make it happen because, like Jen Rubio said, nobody wants to hear you talk about yourself. But it's doable, particularly when you are able to build buzz among many possible customers while at the same time engineering word of mouth among your ideal customers."

✅ Actionable advice:

This advice isn’t just for entrepreneurs; it applies to any leader pushing a new project down the assembly line within your company. You must ensure you have the right engine parts assembled for the project to succeed, but manufacturing the buzz is equally important. You can do this by skip-level meetings with your boss’s boss or other critical stakeholders like IT and development teams. Think strategically like a marketer by crafting a “press release” highlighting the positive outcomes of your project and sharing it via email or Slack—leverage testimonials from leaders or stakeholders who support the project to boost credibility, excitement, and confidence among your team and the broader organization.
